To Salem United Methodist Church

We believe that God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to end our alienation from God. Salvation comes only through God’s grace-not human effort-and must be received personally by repentance and faith.

We believe that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. This accomplished salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between people and God. He will return to earth to consummate history.

THE LOVE OF CHRIST

Our prayer for every gathering is that you would feel welcomed and loved and that you wouldn’t leave the building thinking about how cool our artwork was, how funny the preacher was, or how awesome the guitar player in the band was. We want you to leave our gathering amazed at God’s radical love expressed through the finished work of Jesus Christ. If you don’t remember anything when you leave our gathering except how radically awesome Jesus is, we view that as a huge success!

THE GRACE OF GOD

God is the creator of the universe and giver of all that is good. God is the savior—known boldly and intimately in Jesus and his life, death, and resurrection—who shows us how to live and love. God is the Spirit who enables us to make a difference in our world and in the lives of others.

Salvation

FOR EVERYONE

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. No ritual, work, or any other activity is required in order to be saved. This saving grace of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, also sanctifies us by enabling us to do what is pleasing in God’s sight in order that we might be progressively conformed to the image of Christ. We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.

Children's Church

In Children’s Church, children are invited to glorify God through a time of communal prayer and worship. Children’s Church also includes small group time that creates a place for Children to grow spiritually through Biblical learning and caring relationships.

Our Women"s Group

Our youth group meets each Sunday morning in the Youth Center for class at 10:00am (and teens can arrive a few minutes before class to enjoy some breakfast). Our space is primarily devoted to the youth group and has game tables, a TV room, basketball hoops, hangout space, and classrooms.

Men of Faith

Get ready to move by trying out one of these ministries. You’ll find a great mix of prayer, Bible study, and worshipful experiences. In most of these events or regular programs, you’ll have time to meet new people who may become lifelong friends who will encourage you in your faith walk.
